9/12/2022 0 Comments Game Day setupWe spent one of our long days out and about, looking for decorations for the tables. We got most of our supplies from Hobby Lobby and Target! We also received a balloon arch from our classmate, Raeann Gavin's mom! On game day, we met up at school around 4:15 to start setting up our booth. We put down table cloths, organized the baskets, set up the cash box, put up posters, and assembled the balloon arch! Once the final touches were made, we were ready for when the people started to flow in!
9/12/2022 0 Comments Raffle baskets In total, we had ten different raffle baskets displayed at our booth! As well as a signed Colts jersey up for grabs!
9/9/2022 0 Comments Appreciation lettersWe spent the next few days in class writing letters of appreciation to all of the businesses and people that helped make our project happen. This was just a small way to show how thankful we were towards them! We hand delivered the letters to the local businesses and mailed a few as well. 9/9/2022 0 Comments Behind The ScenesOur game plan, if you will, was to first lock down a date. We decided on our homecoming game against Greenfield Central on September 23. This way, there will already be tons of people in attendance who will want to put their money towards a good cause. After confirming with our athletic directer, Al Cooper, we then got to work on the business aspect of things. We collaborated with a fellow student, Brendon Sego, from Mr. McMurray's class in order to be supplied t-shirts (pictured below). The accent color being gold, representing the children we are fundraising for. Our main selling points being those shirts and our raffle baskets. We spent weeks going around New Pal and neighboring towns to local businesses and food chains to gather as many gift certificates and merchandise as possible. There were several baskets including food (Maggiano's & Cooper's Hawk), entertainment, sports (signed colts jersey), clothing (team image apparel & axe head threads), etc. We sold tickets in various bundles and announced the winner before 4th quarter. All proceeds from the t-shirts as well as the raffle baskets went to Riley Pediatric Cancer Research Fund.

Pitch DayWe spent the first couple of weeks exploring what ideas and projects we might want to explore. We found others that shared the same interests in projects and started brainstorming. Lots of research was done through the internet as well as conversations with Mr. Large. We gathered up all of our information and put it together in a powerpoint, awaiting presentation day. We had school representatives from the high school and other schools in the community, as well as other business employees who came to sit in and listen + give feedback to our presentations. Our specific powerpoint is linked below.
Our WhyEach one of our group members has been affected by cancer in some way. Whether it be parents, aunts/uncles, friends, children/adults in the community, etc. We've seen and understand the struggles that come with these hardships. We wanted to be able to give back and raise awareness/attention specifically to children with pediatric cancer. In our community alone, we've had a handful of children diagnosed with all different types of cancer. Our goal was to raise as much money as possible to go towards the Riley Pediatric Cancer Research Fund.
the InspirationWe found inspiration through past students who have done similar projects/fundraisers to this. In a way, we adopted the "Coaches vs. Cancer" and "Hoops for Hope" projects and put our own little twist on them. We saw the positive impact and success it has had in the past and hoped for a great turnout just like these had.
